English as Second Language


Recognizing English as the universal language, Southville offers English as a Second Language Program (ESL) Program tailored for learners of English from beginning to high levels.

The program caters to students and professionals who look for advancement in their studies and careers. It considers the language needs of learners to help them acquire communication skills in reading, listening, speaking and writing. Classes are activity-oriented and emphasize in fluency and accuracy. Activities focus on vocabulary, listening exercises, pronunciation drills, and grammar.

ESL Programs

1. Mainstreamed Program

  • Offered to students enrolled in Basic Education who have difficulties in communicating in English.
  • Students are placed in small group classes where they are taught lessons in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.-
  • Students are mainstreamed with the regular students during minor subjects.At the end of the Academic Year, students take an evaluation exam to check if they can go to the regular program for the succeeding Academic Year.

2. Small Group ESL

  • Offered to a group of 5 students
  • Classes are held for a minimum of 3 hours a day
  • Program is good for 15 days and more

3. Intensive ESL

  • Offered as 1:1 or 2:1 class
  • Classes are held for a minimum of 3 hours a day
  • Program is good for 15 days and more

For Small group and for Intensive ESL Program, students may have sit-in classes at least once a day for immersion purposes.
