ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ (SISC) offers a Teaching Certificate Program, catering to individuals with a Bachelor’s degree who aspire to teach at the secondary education level. Aligned with The Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994, this program aims to equip non-education degree holders with essential teaching skills.
The Teaching Certificate Program covers various aspects, including understanding the cognitive, socio-emotional, and physical characteristics of children/adolescents and their developmental and learning processes. It also emphasizes acquiring knowledge in the subjects they intend to teach, along with practical teaching methodologies. Participants develop vital skills for managing and monitoring student learning, fostering a reflective attitude toward their teaching, and staying open to new findings, ideas, and theories.
Upon successfully completing the Teaching Certificate Program, participants receive a certification (not a degree or diploma) signifying fulfillment of the 18-unit professional education requirement, qualifying them to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) conducted by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC).Â
Applicants with a Bachelor of Arts/Science degree from a recognized higher education institution must submit a photocopy of their valid transcript of records along with the application form to the Office of the University Registrar. The Teaching Certificate Program adopts a two-semester schedule, providing a structured and comprehensive approach for students to pursue the required 18 units efficiently.
